Long-Lasting Cover and Strong Soil Improvement
Winter-Hardy Green Manure & Cover Crop Seed Mix combines 10 plant species from 7 plant families to create dense vegetation, diverse root growth and long-lasting soil cover. The mixture is developed for use between main crops, after harvest or on temporarily unused soil. Fast-growing species establish quickly, while winter-hardy species such as winter rye and vetch help maintain plant cover for longer during the colder period.
The diverse mixture produces valuable biomass above and below the soil surface. Different root systems develop through several soil layers, helping improve soil structure, organic matter and growing conditions for the following crop.
Winter Cover for Longer Soil Protection
The main advantage of this green manure mix is the presence of winter-hardy species that continue providing soil cover during colder conditions. This keeps the soil protected for longer and makes productive use of the period between growing seasons.
The vegetation forms a natural cover over the soil surface and helps reduce exposure to heavy rainfall, wind and erosion. The mixture can be incorporated into the soil during spring preparation, returning the accumulated plant material to the soil and supporting the next growing cycle.
Supports Active Soil Life
Ten different plant species create a broad range of roots and organic material throughout the soil. Different root depths provide varied growing zones and contribute plant material across the soil profile.
This diversity supports an active soil environment and provides organic material for soil organisms. Root activity and plant residues help create favourable conditions for beneficial soil microorganisms, including rhizobacteria and mycorrhizal fungi, supporting nutrient availability and fertile soil.
Improved Soil Structure and Root Development
The varied root systems help create channels and open spaces throughout compacted soil layers. This improves soil aeration and creates more room for water movement and future crop roots.
Deeper rooting species develop below the upper soil layer, while finer roots improve structure closer to the surface. Together, these root systems help create a loose and well-structured soil profile with better conditions for root development, water infiltration and healthy crop establishment.
High Organic Matter Production
The green manure mixture produces a large amount of plant material during the growing period. Above-ground vegetation and extensive root systems both contribute valuable organic matter.
When the cover crop is incorporated during spring preparation, the plant material becomes part of the soil and contributes to humus formation. Higher organic matter levels support soil fertility, improve soil structure and help create more favourable growing conditions for the following crop.

Rapid Germination and Strong Establishment
The diverse seed mixture is developed for rapid germination and successful establishment under suitable growing conditions. Fast-growing species provide early soil coverage, while slower and winter-hardy species continue developing as the mixture becomes established.
Good soil contact and sufficient moisture during germination support even growth across the growing area. Strong establishment creates dense vegetation, extensive rooting and high organic matter production before spring incorporation.
Better Water Management
Root growth creates natural channels throughout the soil, helping rainfall move into deeper soil layers. Improved soil structure supports better infiltration and reduces the amount of water remaining on the soil surface.
Organic matter also contributes to the ability of the soil to retain moisture. This combination creates more balanced moisture conditions and helps prepare the soil for future crops during both wet and dry growing periods.
Dense Ground Cover
Fast establishment creates dense vegetation that covers open soil between main crops. This makes productive use of areas that would otherwise remain uncovered during autumn and winter.
Dense plant growth reduces the available space for unwanted vegetation and protects the fertile upper soil layer from direct exposure to rain and wind. This makes the mixture suitable for crop rotation, agricultural fields, vegetable growing and regenerative cultivation systems.
Nutrient Retention Between Crops
Growing green manure and cover crop plants absorb available nutrients during periods when no main crop is present. These nutrients remain stored within the developing vegetation and root systems.
After incorporation, the organic plant material gradually becomes part of the soil. This supports efficient nutrient use within crop rotation and contributes to fertile growing conditions for the following season.
Dosage
6 to 6.5 g/m²
60 to 65 kg/ha
Application
Sowing period: July to October
Suitable for all soil types
Suitable as green manure, cover crop and catch crop between main crops
Suitable for autumn and winter soil coverage
Sowing Instructions
- Prepare the soil by loosening the growing area to approximately 30 cm where appropriate. Remove existing weeds and create an even seedbed.
- Sow the outer edges of the growing area first to achieve even coverage.
- Spread the seeds once lengthwise and once widthwise across the area for balanced distribution.
- Lightly rake the seeds into the upper soil layer to approximately 0.5 cm depth.
- Firm the soil after sowing to create good contact between the seeds and soil.
- When no rainfall occurs within 48 hours after sowing, water gently. Maintain sufficient soil moisture during germination and establishment.
Storage
Store the seeds in a cool, dry and dark place. Keep the packaging tightly closed and protect the seeds from moisture, direct sunlight and high temperatures.
