Choice for Organic Robustness and Flavor
Organic Seed Potatoes Alouette are the superior successor to Raja seed potatoes and have proven to be a favorite among both hobby gardeners and professional farmers. This mid-late variety, with its attractive red skin and yellow flesh, is renowned for its excellent storability and robust resistance to Phytophthora, a common threat in potato cultivation.
The Alouette seed potatoes develop large tubers that are exceptionally suited for a variety of culinary purposes. Whether baking, boiling, or making fries, these potatoes maintain their shape and texture, making them a versatile choice for any kitchen.
Universally Suitable for Different Soil Types
What makes these seed potatoes remarkable is their ability to thrive in various soil types, from sand to clay, offering flexible and accessible cultivation. Cultivation advice emphasizes pre-sprouting the tubers to ensure optimal initial development, particularly in colder soils. Additionally, proper planting distance is crucial for crop health and yield, with a recommended spacing of approximately 20-25 cm for optimal results.
Natural Resistance to Phytophthora
The natural resistance of Alouette to both foliage and tuber Phytophthora contributes to their popularity and makes them a reliable choice for organic cultivation, where the use of chemical treatments is avoided. This variety is not only sustainable but also practical, with relatively easy cultivation and maintenance.
By choosing Alouette seed potatoes, you opt for a product that guarantees quality and reliability while contributing to more sustainable farming. It is a variety that consistently proves its value in the kitchen and fulfills the promise of organic agriculture.
Aesthetic Appeal with Deep Red Skin
The unique deep red skin of Organifer Organic Seed Potatoes Alouette sets them apart from other varieties, making them a visually appealing option that easily attracts attention in markets and stores. This striking color adds a distinctive element to culinary presentations and enhances the aesthetic value of finished dishes. The skin is not only beautiful but also an indicator of quality, and this visual appeal plays a crucial role in consumer choice as they increasingly value both the visual and flavorful quality of their food. Instructions for Use
- Soil Preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Work the soil to a depth of 30 cm to create a loose structure that promotes root development.
- Pre-Sprouting (Optional): Begin pre-sprouting the potatoes about four weeks before planting in a warm, well-lit environment. This process encourages the formation of strong shoots, accelerates growth, and shortens the time to harvest.
- Planting: Timing: Plant seed potatoes early in spring, after the frost period. Spacing: Plant the potatoes in straight rows, with approximately 40 cm between plants and 60 cm between rows. Depth: Ensure the potatoes are planted about 10 cm deep, with the shoots facing upwards.
- Care: Gradually add more soil around the plants (earthing up) about six weeks after planting. This supports stem growth, promotes soil warming, and ensures proper drainage. Use Organifer fertilizers and start applying Organifer plant enhancers suitable for organic farming, such as Phytophthora concentrate, ten weeks after planting for optimal plant health.
- Harvesting: Begin harvesting approximately 90 days after planting for early varieties and 120 days for late varieties, depending on weather conditions and the potato variety. Use a digging machine or a fork to carefully lift the potatoes from the ground without damaging the tubers.
Storage
Store seed potatoes in a cool, dry, and dark place to prevent sprouting and spoilage. Ensure adequate ventilation to avoid moisture buildup and ethylene accumulation, which can cause mold and rot. Avoid storing potatoes near ethylene-emitting fruits, such as apples, as this can accelerate sprouting. Regularly inspect and remove any damaged potatoes to limit the spread of diseases. Use breathable storage materials, such as paper or fabric bags, to ensure proper air circulation.
