Organic Seed Potato Package for a Varied and Long-Lasting Harvest

This organic seed potato package offers a unique combination of three carefully selected varieties: Frieslander (early), Vitabella (mid-early), and Alouette (mid-late). This variety ensures an extended harvest, from the first early potatoes in summer to the robust mid-late harvest later in the season. Ideal for both home gardens and professional growers seeking a continuous supply of fresh organic potatoes.

Fast Start with Frieslander – The Early Harvest Specialist

Frieslander is a fast-growing, early table potato variety that can be harvested in the summer. With excellent disease resistance and natural tolerance to Phytophthora, this variety is particularly suitable for organic cultivation. Frieslander potatoes have a floury texture and are versatile in the kitchen, perfect for mashed dishes, fries, and roasted potatoes. Their smooth, yellow-skinned tubers are also easy to peel.

Vitabella – The Mid-Early Ripening All-Rounder

Vitabella offers a higher yield and excellent storability, making it ideal for growers who want to extend their harvest use. This variety is firm-cooking, making it perfect for both boiling and frying. With strong resistance to Phytophthora and good scab resistance, Vitabella is a reliable choice for organic farming without reliance on chemical treatments. Its yellow-skinned tubers and firm texture make it ideal for everyday kitchen use.

Alouette – Robust Mid-Late Potato with Red Skin

Alouette is a mid-late variety distinguished by its deep red skin and yellow flesh. This potato boasts very high resistance to Phytophthora, making it perfect for organic farming. Its moderately firm texture allows it to retain its shape and consistency when baked or boiled, making it particularly suitable for fries, casseroles, and various culinary applications. Robust growth and broad adaptability to different soil types, from sandy to clay soils, ensure a high and stable yield.

Sustainable Organic Cultivation

This seed potato package offers sustainable and versatile cultivation, with each variety providing its unique advantages. The combination of an early, mid-early, and mid-late variety allows for a longer harvesting period with a continuous supply of fresh organic potatoes. All varieties are SKAL and NAK certified, ensuring they are free from genetic modifications and chemical treatments.

Frieslander, Vitabella, and Alouette together form a high-quality organic seed potato package that excels in both flavor and ease of cultivation, making it an excellent choice for anyone who values quality and sustainability.

Instructions for Use

  1.  Soil preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil. Work the soil to a depth of 30 cm to create a loose structure that promotes root development.

  2. Pre-sprouting (optional): Begin pre-sprouting the potatoes about four weeks before planting in a warm and bright environment. This process encourages the formation of strong shoots, accelerates growth, and shortens the time to harvest.
  3. Planting: Timing: Plant the seed potatoes early in the spring after the frost period. Spacing: Plant in straight rows with approximately 40 cm between plants and 60 cm between rows. Depth: Plant the potatoes about 10 cm deep with the sprouts facing upward.
  4. Care: About six weeks after planting, gradually add more soil around the plants by hilling. This supports stem growth, improves soil warming, and ensures proper drainage. Use Organifer fertilizers and, ten weeks after planting, apply Organifer plant boosters suitable for organic cultivation, such as Phytophthora concentrate, to promote optimal plant health.
  5. Harvesting: Begin harvesting from 90 days for early varieties to 120 days for late varieties after planting, depending on weather conditions and the potato variety. Use a harvester or garden fork to carefully lift the potatoes without damaging the tubers.

Storage:

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated space to maximize shelf life. Avoid direct sunlight or overly warm locations to prevent premature sprouting and quality loss.
