Early Maturity and Exceptional Taste
Organic Frieslander seed potatoes offer early harvest potential combined with a rich, versatile flavor. With their long oval tubers and a beautiful light-yellow color after cooking, these potatoes are an excellent choice for growers seeking quality and reliability. Their smooth skin allows for easy preparation, while their fluffy texture after cooking makes them perfect for dishes like mashed potatoes, fries, and roasted potatoes.
Natural Resistance and Sustainable Cultivation
Frieslander potatoes are renowned for their strong resistance to common potato diseases such as Phytophthora, both in foliage and tubers. This natural resilience makes them ideal for organic farming, where avoiding chemical pesticides is a priority. The variety adapts well to different soil types but performs best on medium to heavy clay soils. This makes Frieslanders a favorite among both hobby gardeners and organic farmers.
Excellent Storage Capabilities
Thanks to their robust nature and early maturity, organic Frieslander potatoes can be stored for extended periods without loss of quality. When stored above 5 degrees Celsius, they maintain their flavor and avoid sweetening. This makes them suitable for both household storage and commercial use, preserving their taste and texture.

Instructions for Use
- Soil preparation: Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Work the soil to a depth of 30 cm to create a loose structure, which promotes root development.
- Pre-sprouting (optional): Start pre-sprouting the potatoes about four weeks before planting in a warm and light environment. This process encourages the formation of strong shoots, accelerates growth and reduces the time to harvest.
- Planting: Timing: Plant the seed potatoes in early spring, after the frost period. Plant the potatoes in straight lines, with a distance of about 40 cm between the plants and 60 cm between the rows. Make sure that the potatoes are planted about 10 cm deep, with the shoots facing upwards.
- Care: About six weeks after planting, gradually add more soil to the plants by earthing up. This supports stem growth, promotes warming of the soil and ensures good drainage. Use Organifer fertilizers and start applying Organifer plant enhancers that are suitable for organic cultivation, such as Phytophthora concentrate for optimum plant health, ten weeks after planting.
- Harvesting: Start harvesting from 90 days for early varieties to 120 days for late varieties after planting, depending on the weather and the potato variety. Use a harvester or a rake to carefully lift the potatoes out of the ground without damaging the tubers.
Storage
Store seed potatoes in a cool, dry, and dark place to prevent sprouting and spoilage. Ensure adequate ventilation to avoid moisture build-up and ethylene exposure, which can cause mold and rotting. Avoid storing them near ethylene-emitting fruits like apples, as this can accelerate sprouting. Regularly inspect and remove damaged potatoes to minimize the risk of disease. Use breathable storage materials such as paper or cloth bags.
